I never considered being a choreographer, but lockdown changed everything. Training in advanced contemporary dance over Zoom was maddening! Contemporary movements are dynamic, and the technology at hand was limiting. I realized if I wanted to continue to hone my skills, I needed to learn how to challenge myself. Before long my teachers were asking me to choreograph for their pieces.

In 2022, I was given the opportunity to choreograph Josie Pearson's competition solo. I am so grateful that the Pearson family (and ENCORE Performing Arts Center) put so much of their faith in me. Working with Josie and seeing her growth, perseverance, and success gave me a new and unexpectedly joyous relationship with the stage.
Imagine my surprise when Josie's Solo (Runaway) went viral on YouTube!
This season (2024), I had five soloists competing. I'll upload videos after nationals.
Watching "my spider babies" work through their challenges and succeed in competition dance is incredibly rewarding.
